Epiphany

Also known as: Manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles

In the liturgical calendar of the Ordinariate of the Chair of St Peter, Epiphany is transferred from January 6th to the Sunday that falls between January 2nd and January 8th. If the Sunday is January 7th or 8th, The Baptism of the Lord is moved to the Monday immediately following (8th or 9th) rather than to the Sunday of the following week.

The liturgical color is white (or gold).

The setting of the mass is Willan.

The creche is remains in the middle of the chancel.

the Christmas wreath remains on the footpace near the sacristy door. All five white candles are lit. The framed copy of the Last Gospel is place on the altar at the North end, lying flat.

The Magi make their way to the creche during the Processional Hymn.

Proclamation of the Date of Easter intoned by the deacon after the homily. (See DWM 1070).

It is traditional to have the blessing and distribution of chalk after the Penitential Rite.

Readings are intoned at the solemn mass, the Epistle by the acolyte if possible. At other masses the acolyte reads the Epistle.

The Preface is the Preface of the Epiphany (DWM 586)

The Epiphany formula is used at the Communicantes (DWM 638).

The Last Gospel is said at the end of all masses (until Feb 2nd). The acolyte should stand up the framed copy of the Last Gospel, at the North end of the altar, during the dismissal. The celebrant reads the Last Gospel while the acolyte and deacon stand at the ends of the altar facing inward.. All servers stand for the Last Gospel, genuflecting at "and the Word was made Flesh"
