Liturgical seasons
The Liturgical year can also be broken down into nine liturgical seasons:
Advent - From Evening prayer before the First Sunday of Advent to the afternoon of December 24th.
Christmastide - From Evening prayer on Christmas Eve to the afternoon of the Vigil of Epiphany. May contain one or two Sundays.
Epiphanytide - From Evening prayer on the night before Epiphany to the afternoon of the day before Septuagesima.
Pre-Lent - From Evening prayer the night before Septuagesima through Shrove Tuesday
Lent - Period from Ash Wednesday to the afternoon of Maundy Thursday (before the Mass of the Lord's Supper).
Triduum - From the evening of Maundy Thursday (Mass of the Lord's Supper) through the Easter Vigil.
Eastertide - From Easter Sunday to Pentecost Sunday.
Whitsuntide - From the evening of Pentecost Sunday through the afternoon of the following Saturday (night before Trinity Sunday)
Trinitytide - From Evening prayer of the night before Trinity Sunday to the end of the liturgical year on the afternoon of the Saturday before the First Sunday of Advent.
