Proclamation of the Date or Easter

A proclamation made by the Deacon at masses on the Epiphany.

THE PROCLAMATION FO THE DATE OF EASTER AND OF THE MOVEABLE FEASTS ON EPIPHANY

On the Epiphany of the Lord, after the proclamation of the Gospel, a Deacon or cantor, in keeping with an ancient practice of the Holy Church, announces from the ambo the moveable feasts of the current year according to this formula:

KNOW, dear brethren, that, as we have rejoiced at the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, so be leave of God's mercy we announce to you also the joy of his Resurrection, who is our Saviour.

On the ... day of February/March will fall Ash Wednesday, and the beginning of the fast of the most sacred Lenten season.

On the ... day of March/April you will celebrate with joy Easter day, the Paschal feast of our Lord Jesus Christ.

On the ... day of April/May/June will be the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ.

On the... day of May/June, the feast of Pentecost.

On the ... day of June, the feast of the most Precious Body and Blood of Christ.

On the ... day of November/December, the First Sunday of the Advent of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom is honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
