Song of praise or prayer, sung by the people and the choir during mass.

There are typically three hymns at a high mass:

• Entrance hymn - during the Entrance Procession of the altar party through the nave and to the altar steps

• Communion hymn - during the Communion of the Faithful

• Recessional hymn - during the Recessional as the altar party moves back through the nave to the entrance of the church at the end of mass.

Hymns at Our Lady of Walsingham are typically taken from the parish hymnal. Otherwise, the hymn (words and music) are printed in the service leaflet.
