Server training

Group training for new servers if offered once a year, usually in the summer. Contact Mr Fitzgibbon for more details.

Training of existing servers for new roles is offered at the same time as the new server training.

Generally, our youngest servers start as boat boy at the 11:15 mass, then graduate over time to torchbearer, crucifer, and thurifer. Adults typically serve as MC and/or acolyte, but also train for thurifer and crucifer so they can fill those roles when necessary.

Performing the acolyte role requires special training in the ministry of the subdiaconate that is offered by the Ordinariate and includes being instituted as an acolyte by the Bishop.

All servers are expected to willingly perform any role asked of them in a spirit of cheerful obedience and service.

Additionally, individual training can be arranged at any time throughout the year. Contact Mr Caruthers for more details.
