By virtue of his institution, the acolyte is an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion.

Depending on the parish, the acolyte may be called upon to minister the Body or Blood and should be prepared to assist in whichever manner is customary.

The acolyte may NOT distribute Holy Communion through intinction, which is reserved to a priest or deacon.
